  • Chief Negotiator, Kells Academy Inc. Retained during the early stages of conciliation and now during an arbitration procedure in order to negotiate a 1st collective agreement between the Academy and its elementary and secondary school teachers as represented by the Kells Academy Teachers Union (FNEEQ-CSN) in Montreal, QC.

Completed Mandates

  • Provided human resources and labour relations due diligence expertise to a large technical services firm regarding the potential acquisition and integration of a competitor’s unionized and non-unionized business units within its Quebec-based operations.

  • External Investigator, privately owned manufacturing company. Met with shop floor employees  and the Warehouse Supervisor in order to resolve various complaints and make verbal recommendations to the Plant Manager in Montreal, QC.

  • External Investigator, manufacturing company. Retained by the Vice-President, Human Resources and a Partner at Fasken to conduct two separate investigations – a multi-faceted psychological harassment complaint amongst office staff and a sexual harassment complaint from the shop floor – in Montreal, QC.

  • Negotiated a severance package and mutual release on behalf of a long-serving General Manager who was dismissed without cause by an industrial manufacturing company in Montreal, QC.

  • Provided investigation coaching services to a Human Resources Manager in the energy sector who had the challenge of conducting her first internal harassment investigation regarding a complaint filed by a line manager against a direct report in Montreal, QC.

  • Organizational audit, Canadian University. Retained by the Director, Human Resources and the Dean of a Faculty to interview the members of a small, specialized team led by a Director and assess the nature and quality of their interactions, cooperation and support for one another in pursuit of their objectives and make recommendations for near term improvements.

  • External Investigator, large services firm. Retained by a Vice-President and a Partner at Fasken to conduct two investigations into multi-faceted complaints of psychological and sexual harassment involving several complainants and respondents in an office environment in Montreal, QC.

  • Provided compensation and internal communications advice to a service company’s HR Team regarding the re-structuring and launch of their 2019 annual bonus plan in Montreal, QC.

  • External Investigator, privately owned manufacturing company. Retained by the Director, Human Resources and a Partner at Fasken to conduct an investigation into several harassment and sexual harassment complaints filed by employees and managers alike against a Plant Manager in Canada.

  • External Investigator, health and social services sector. Retained by the Director General and a Partner at Fasken to conduct two investigations which involved unionized employees and instances of psychological harassment, poor work performance and neglect of duties that caused physical and emotional harm in Montreal, QC.

  • Project Manager and Interim HR Services, Cogeco Peer 1. Helped lead a large payroll, benefits and pension reconciliation project that touched over 700 employees and multiple service providers in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Provided generalist HR support before and after the arrival of a new Vice President HR at CP1’s Head Office in Etobicoke, Ontario.

  • External Investigator, packaging company. Conducted a series of interviews with unionized employees and prepared a report regarding a complaint of psychological harassment in Montreal, QC.

  • Labour Relations Consultant & Chief Negotiator, Rolls-Royce Canada Limited. Helped negotiate two, four-year collective agreements with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, one with Lodge 869 – production employees responsible for the MRO of aircraft engines, and one with Lodge 2468 – office and field support employees, in Lachine, QC.

  • Human Resources Consultant, e2r®. As a third party resource to the firm, provided advice and materials on a wide variety of topics - compensation, bonus plans, organizational development, performance appraisals, policy manuals, employment contracts – to several of the firm’s clients in Toronto, ON.

  • External Investigator, communications firm. Conducted a series of interviews and prepared a lengthy report regarding multifaceted harassment and whistle-blower complaints at several locations in North America and Europe.

  • Provided advice to an SME regarding its obligations under the Quebec Labour Standards Act - notice of collective dismissal et al – and liaised with the CNESST following the loss of a contract and the subsequent site closure.

  • Witness, Candu Energy Inc. Testified on behalf of the Company and together with the Labour Relations Manager and external Legal Counsel, helped win a major arbitration case filed by the Society of Professional Engineers and Associates in Mississauga, ON.

  • Presented a case study on how to conduct internal and third party workplace investigations to two discussion groups sponsored by l’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés in Pointe Claire, QC

  • Negotiated a severance package on behalf of a Business Analyst who was dismissed by a medical services firm in Toronto, ON.

  • Chief Negotiator, Brown’s Fine Food Services Inc. Filed for conciliation and assisted with the negotiation of the 2nd collective agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada in Rigaud, QC.

  • Recruited a Director, Business Development, Canada for Group Ultragen Ltd, a privately owned engineering consulting firm in Boucherville, Quebec.

  • External Investigator, medical services organization. Recommended by legal counsel to investigate and file a report on a multifaceted harassment complaint in Montreal, QC.

  • External Investigator, professional services firm. Conducted a series of interviews and prepared twelve separate reports on a variety of harassment, ethics and whistler-blower complaints at various locations in North and South America.

  • Provided advice to a senior Director regarding his employment contract and restrictive covenants with a large, privately-owned manufacturing and distribution company in Montreal, QC.

  • Gathered materials for a best practices review on the role and mandate of the HR Committee of the Board of Directors for the VP Human Resources, 5N Plus Inc. in St-Laurent, QC.

  • Interim Compliance Case Tracking Coordinator, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. Acted as a liaison between the new Ethics and Compliance team and individuals who reported  concerns with or alleged violations to the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct in Montreal, QC.

  • Negotiated a severance package on behalf of an Executive Chef who was dismissed by a hotel in Montreal, QC.

  • Provided employee relations advice to a professional services firm regarding its annual performance review system in Montreal, QC.

  • Provided employee relations advice to a boutique law firm following the dismissal of two clients – a professional from a marine engineering company and an executive from a beauty products company – in Montreal, QC.

  • Facilitator, Intelerad Medical Systems Incorporated. Helped plan and facilitated Intelerad’s annual strategic planning retreat for its executives and key contributors in St-Laurent, QC.

  • Negotiated a severance package on behalf of a Senior Program Manager who was laid off from a high technology firm in Montreal, QC.

  • External Investigator, mining company. Conducted a series of interviews and prepared two separate reports following the receipt of a whistler-blower complaint and a harassment complaint in Toronto, ON.

  • Expert Witness, Lawson Creamer and the Canadian Medical Protective Association. Prepared an expert report which assessed the quality of a harassment investigation directed against our physician-client and which helped legal counsel resolve matters through an out-of-court settlement in Eastern Canada.
  • External Investigator, professional services firm. Conducted a series of interviews and prepared a report following the receipt of a whistler-blower complaint in the south-west United States.
  • Interim Director, Labour Relations & Chief Negotiator, Candu Energy Inc. Helped resolve a wide variety of litigation inherited by Candu following the acquisition of the commercial nuclear reactor business of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. and later helped negotiate new collective agreements with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (1) and the Society of Professional Engineers and Associates (2) in Mississauga, ON.
  • Chief Negotiator, Brown’s Fine Food Services Inc. Assisted with the negotiation of a 1st collective agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada in Rigaud, QC.
  • External Investigator, service organization. Conducted a series of interviews and prepared a report following the receipt of a code of ethics complaint in South America.
  • Recruited a Manager, People & Performance, for Anglo-Canadian Housewares, L.P., (Breville) in Pointe Claire, QC.
  • Interim Human Resources Manager, 5N Plus Inc. Assisted the General Manager with recruiting (production employees to CFO), employee relations, workers’ compensation, employee surveys, post acquisition integration strategies, terminations and severance agreements in St-Laurent, QC.
  • Interim Director, Human Resources, Mass Transit Group, SNC-Lavalin Inc. Lead the HR Team – international recruitment, expatriate assignment conditions, performance and absenteeism management, terminations of employment, initial steps towards establishing a “best practices” culture and approach – pending the recruitment of a new Vice-President, HR in Vancouver, BC.
  • Organizational Audit and Restructuring, Solotech Inc. Interviewed over thirty members of the Manufacturing Department plus their internal clients and made recommendations to the President regarding various HR matters plus budgets, intellectual property, manufacturing processes, inventory management and warehousing in Montreal, QC.
  • Expert Witness, Lawson Creamer and The Canadian Medical Protective Association. Assisted legal counsel with the successful defense a physician who was in danger of losing his hospital privileges as a result of a harassment investigation in Eastern Canada.
  • Harassment Investigator, Major Canadian Chartered Bank. Retained by a Partner at Fasken Martineau and internal legal counsel to conduct two separate investigations – one complaint against two colleagues and one complaint against an immediate Supervisor – in Montreal, QC.
  • Recruited a Human Resources Manager for Rosmar Litho Inc. in Baie D’Urfe, QC.
  • Provided advice and coaching services to the Corporate HR Team, SNC-Lavalin Inc. Services included re-structuring, budgeting, recruiting and employee relations matters in Montreal, QC, Toronto, ON and India.
  • As an accredited consultant with the Business Development Bank of Canada, provided advice to a BDC client regarding a Sales Representative with performance and attendance problems in Montreal, QC.
  • Interim Director, Labour Relations, Power Group, SNC-Lavalin Inc. Provided due diligence expertise regarding the acquisition of the commercial nuclear reactor business of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. and related labour matters in Mississauga, ON.
  • Reviewed, prepared and negotiated employment contracts and severance agreements at the professional and executive levels across a number of different industries e.g. fine chemicals/cosmetics, food distribution, engineering and pharma/medical devices in QC and ON.
